Reporting the Local News for Over 100 Years!

About Us

Gretchen Henkel is the editor and publisher of the official newspaper of the town of Secaucus, NJ.

This independently owned weekly newspaper has been in continuous operation since 1910 and has been in the Henkel family since 1948, when Gretchen’s father, Robert Henkel, purchased the publication from the original owner, Charlie Haege. Gretchen easily made the transition from employee to owner in 1994, having learned the business by working with her father for many years.

The newspaper continues to thrive not only through her business savvy but also because of Gretchen’s passionate interest in local affairs, her concern for the quality of life in the town of Secaucus, and her personal connection to many of the local residents.
